Hey! I love historical fiction and also non-fiction history books, but I realised many of the books I read so far were related to Nazi Germany/WII at large. I want to explore new settings in historical fiction, especially ones that are not as common. I‘d be especially happy about books set in the 1900s-1920s, Eastern Europe or non-Western settings, but I‘m up for anything! I love intrigues, mystery and a good load of historical facts to learn from. I‘m not big on too romancy stuff (slow burns I do like) and I don‘t mind if the lines between historical fiction and fantasy are a bit blurred. Books that are not available in English but in French, German or Spanish are also welcome 🙂
For context, some of my favourite historical fiction books:
A Book Thief by Markus Zusak (Nazi Germany)
The Island of Missing Trees by Elif Shafak (Cyprus, 70s)
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (Nazi Germany/Occupied France)
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus (50s, US)
The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris (Nazi Germany)
Black Butterflies by Priscilla Morris (Sarajevo, 1992)
if you also count fantasy: A Song of Ice and Fire, Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson, etc.
Thanks in advance!!! Looking forward to your replies😍
