I've recently finished The Norse Myths by Kevin Crossley-Holland and loved it, along with the game God of War. So I'm looking for more surrounding the history and mythology of that era, preferably non-fiction.
Also can anyone weigh in if Norse Mythology by (the now questionable) Neil Gaiman is worth the trouble or if it's more a fantastical interpretation?
Thanks.

I didn’t really think it was worth the trouble when I DNFd it soon after it came out. It’s basically telling the stories of the myths and not getting into the history or alternatives or interpretations.
I enjoyed Gaiman’s book on audio, personally. Sucks that he sucks.
Children of Ash and Elm and River Gods are both fascinating nonfiction Viking reads. For fiction, All the Horses in Iceland is a quick, lovely novella.
