Hi all, I would like to read a book (audiobook preferred since I have nerve pain, can't hold books) where someone suffers from physical pain and recovers from it. I've been wrecked with a jaw disorder for the past year, and I've been told that I have arthritis in my jaw and I am 19. It is extremely likely that I need jaw surgery to chew food again and I have extreme pain every day to the point where I'm bedridden, headaches every day… I guess I'm looking for hope in the form of a main character in a book. hopefully I followed all of the subreddit rules, first time posting here 🩷

William Soutar, *Diaries of a Dying Man*. He had ankylosing spondylitis.
Charles Bukowski: Ham on Rye. He has severe acne in his late teens, and the descriptions of the treatments he gets made me shudder.
You might want to try The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating, it’s about a young person becoming bedridden for a year and what she did to get through it. As a fellow chronic pain sufferer, I hope your pain eases and the road ahead is as smooth as it can be. Young arthritis diagnoses are no joke, courage to you and take care of yourself.
