My dad use to read suspense/thriller books when he was younger but now he is in his late 70s and I want to get him something to help keep his mind engaged. I would normally just go with whatever the top lists recommend but I have to be a little careful with the material I put in front of him.
We lost my brother a few years ago to suicide so I really need to avoid any book that touches that subject or even gets too much into talking about about things like the afterlife. I think he could handle generalities like the concept of heaven and hell and all that, but I don't want to give him anything triggering.
He's also an old man that hasn't read much in his later years so I am not really looking for whatever the best written suspense/thriller book is. I am looking for a book that will be exciting and a real page turner to keep him engaged. Probably bonus points if the author is some famous author he may have heard of such as Stephen King or Dean Koontz.
