Hi all,
My husband's New Year goal for 2025 is to read more fiction, since he already reads a lot of nonfiction but wants to expand his horizons and whatnot. I've had some hits and misses with what I've gotten for him in the past, so hoping you have some ideas too.
Likes: He REALLY liked Gabrielle Zevin's Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow that I got him last year. In the past, he's liked Game of Thrones, and he also likes mysteries.
Not liked: The Name of the Rose, The Great Gatsby.
Book "Wishlist" traits:
- Character arcs run orthogonal to each other (characters are foils to each other, or a similar dynamic)
- Character-focused in interactions and development.
- Setting (context) that is easy to understand
- Multiple point of view characters (different perspectives on people and events)
Books I'm considering for him: Station Eleven, How to Stop Time (Haig), Terry Pratchett, Soji Shimada, The Poppy War
Any thoughts/ideas/input welcome!
