Around this time of year and into late spring, I have a lot of time to read. I usually keep by my nightstand/in my backpack for work:

    1. A job-related nonfiction book – usually books about marketing, nonprofit management, government/politics/history. Right now I'm reading a textbook on Texas Politics.

    2. A creative/hobby-related nonfiction book – usually music or art-related. Right now I'm reading a book called Art as Therapy.

    3. A Stephen King novel – my dad's favorite author, it's one of the things we enjoy discussing. Right now I'm reading The Shining and slowly working through Night Shift.

    4. A classic novel – Right now it's War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells because I've been on a sci-fi kick.

What about you? Do you read lots of different books at a time? I notice for me it depends on mood/time I have.

    1. I’m very much a mood reader, so I always have 3 to 5 books going at any given time (but I don’t finish them all at the same time, so books are being started and finished at different times).

Usually, one nonfiction (because that’s all I can handle lol), one fiction, and then 1 to 3 fantasy books.
One of these is also an audiobook, so I have something for my commute, walk, or chores.

Most months, there is an additional fiction book that I may be reading with one of my book clubs.

      1. An audiobook, often nonfiction, because they have less narrative and it’s okay if I miss a phrase here or there. Usually pop science or science history.

      2. An ebook. Usually fiction, whatever i’m in the mood for (fiction, classics, sci-fi, fantasy).

      3. A paper book, usually whatever book my book club chose for the month.

I’m autistic, and Westerns are one of my special interests. I *always* need to be reading a Western. I started a sci-fi book not too long ago and got the overwhelming urge to read a Western out of nowhere (though the book is excellent). As a result, I’ll keep two books in circulation; A Western and a non-Western. I try to read them at different times during the day. One on the bus, one at work during lunch.

    4. I like to keep at least 3 in progress. Science fiction, fantasy, short stories, thriller or mystery.

I lean toward audiobooks because I knit, cross stitch, crochet, etc and I prefer books to tv. But I do like to end the night with reading in my kindle. Sometimes I don’t have an option and the library only has audio or digital not both, so the choice is made for me.
