trying to read things with more substance

I usually only read things that have romance and smut in them. I’m trying to get into books with a little more plot. Basically I want to move away from booktok ish things. But I want it to be a gradual change. Can someone suggest me a book where there’s a lot of plot and a side plot romance. Like ninth house, cruel prince things like that? doesn’t have to be fantasy
