My turn to pick our bookclub book is coming up. I’ve never read any Kushner but her books have shown up on so many ‘best of‘ lists over the past 10 years that it’s starting to feel like a significant gap.

    Group info:

    • we’re friends and have been meeting monthly for 17 years
    • we’re omnivorous readers but particularly like books that generate discussion
    • about 1\2 audiobook listeners
    • it's been a very tough year for several members, so if it's between two recommendations where one is more challenging or disturbing and one is a bit lighter or more engaging, I think we'd prefer the easier option at the moment (though if the book is worth it, we don't shy away from tough reads)

Any suggestions? (and open to any favorite bookclub books)

    1. I haven’t read the new one yet, but of her first three novels, I would go *Telex From Cuba*. It’s shorter than *The Flamethrowers*, better than *The Mars Room*, and I think the Cuban setting/milieu is fascinating. Plenty to talk about there!
