I'm a teen boy, mostly a shonen manga reader, in the beginning of last year i have started to read actual novels, i read the DUNE series and loved the political fiction, sci-fi aspect of it, i like how it had its own laws and deep history. I liked the Angels and Demons books, though they have a bad reputation, i deeply appreciate the historical/religion fiction. I'm currently reading Dean Koontz's Intensity, and have loved it so much that i recently just bought The Bad Place.

I have a few readers in my family, but they have very different tastes than me (they like romance, Twilight esque setting books).

For genres im exactly looking for, or have shown interest in, action/adventure, political fiction (books where it has its own politics and relevant to the story), sci-fi, horror, historical fiction.

Try ‘Wool’ by Hugh Howey—it’s about a community of humans driven underground by deteriorating conditions on the surface. They live in a buried silo. I found it quite political—there’s a class system based on what floor of the silo you live on, there’s an uprising, etc.
