This year I came out of a deep 6-year depression. I’ve also been diagnosed with adhd. I realised all this time I failed to have much if any significant or meaningful interactions with people – and now I find myself (22m) barely knowing my family and friends. Thanks to my depression and adhd (makes communication & connection difficult / lowers EQ) it’s like I woken up and I’m an alien in my life who doesn’t really know the people around him.
Some books have helped me understand things better, and I’m making improvements. I’m looking for books to continue helping my development along. These are the standout ones that have helped me:
- How to know a person, David Brooks, probably my favourite one I keep coming back to
- Emotional Intelligence, Daniel Goleman
- Myth of Normal & Scattered Minds, Gabor Maté
- You’re not listening, Kate Murphy
- Atlas of the Heart, Brené Brown
Any suggestions would be amazing! Thank you!
