Badly need book recs similar to the kdrama When The Phone Rings. Gist of plot since it’s currently an ongoing series with 6 episodes out on Netflix:
The kdrama is a romance/drama series where we follow the tumultuous journey of Hong Hee-joo, a woman who was forced to be “mute” by her mother, also trapped in an arranged marriage with the cold chairman Baek Sa-eon. After three years of silence, her life takes a dark turn when a stalker kidnaps her, using a voice modulator to threaten her husband. As she escapes and steals the device, she orchestrates a plan to divorce him. Through their phone calls, they confess hidden feelings, leading to poignant realizations about their marriage and each other’s struggles. As secrets unravel, including her hidden voice and traumatic past, their icy relationship begins to thaw, leading to unexpected romance amidst suspenseful twists.
The K-drama is so good. I don’t know, there’s just something about him slowly realizing his wife could actually speak but supressed it due to her family issues that is interesting to me. I want to say it’s kind of like a hidden identity trope (since I usually love those), but I know it isn’t, lol.
