There are some books I buy but don’t read right away. They just sit there on the shelf, marinating. Sometimes it takes weeks, months, or even years before the timing feels right to crack one open.
Like The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt – It's been there since over a year and I’d glance at it ever so often. Now I'm finally reading it and I absolutely love it.
Does anyone else have a book you’ve “marinated” and finally read when the timing was just right?

Shogun was the one I would say fit this for me. It’s intimidating size and having to get used to two different kinds of people ( Dutch pirates and feudal Japan) and then getting the account of feudal Japan from Dutch pirates made it on I put on the back burner for awhile! Glad I got to it though. Very good book!
