I am looking for more adult fantasy books to read, but I'm getting overwhelmed by options!
I really enjoy:
– elaborate world building
– rich lore
– exciting adventure
– fantasy mostly, but sci-fi is fun too
I do NOT enjoy:
– characters written in a misogynistic way ("manly men", helpless women, overly descriptive of bodies vs the actual character)
– excessive smut
– annoying YA tropes like love triangles or major plotholes
A good romance is ok if done right, but I'm here for a good adventure not to read some unrealistic and honestly uncomfortable description of how large a member is. I want beautiful imagery of far away places and to be enchanted by the characters and story. I don't mind a quick novel, but series are a huge plus, especially if there's multiple stories/series in the same world.
Books I really enjoyed (some YA because it tends to be light on the romance, although I'm trying to find more adult writing minus the smut)
– Daughter of the Moon Goddess series
– The Night and It's Moon
– pretty much anything I've tried from Tamora Pierce (Beka Cooper series and every other book from that specific world)
– Eragon series
– Tunnels series
ACOTAR was one I really tried to like, and at times I did (mostly the way they wrote the individuals from the night court, yay for semi healthy relationships), but mostly it was annoying how they wrote the men and how much they focused on the smut vs the actual world/lore. I never finished the last books.
Suggestions?

The Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
Throne of Glass has some spicy scenes but not many and they don’t go into tons of detail.
My single favorite book is Carol Berg’s Transformation. It’s the first in a trilogy and they’re all good but that first book is amazing. I love all of Dragonlance, thought the first 3 (The Dragonlance Chronicles) are what started it for me and are what I measure all fantasy up against. The Dragon Prince series by Melanie Rawn is good but does have some stupid male characters. I also love any of The Drizzt books by R.A. Salvatore.
