Suggest me a book with cliche things done a bit differently

Take the book “Ruby red” by Kerstin Gier in mind,kinda going off of that. Its not the most specific requests but honestly im down for anything

Btw im getting into books again so please dont give me stuff over 400/500 pages,i know im gonna abandon it otherwise :'((
