My dad used to read a lot when he was younger and in the Navy and gradually stopped because life got in the way. Recently, my mom passed away and it’s been difficult, but he’s told me he wants to pick up reading again to fill his spare time.
He used to read a lot of Lee Child and Tom Clancy, also the Dark Tower series by James Patterson but that was over 25-30 years ago.
Any recommendations for other authors or maybe some newly (newly as in probably within the last 15 years) published books by these authors? I just bought him The Enemy by Lee Child because he looked at it and said it was interesting, so those are the types are books he’s interested in. He’s very much an action and mystery type of person.

* Mark Greaney has his Gray Man Series
* The duo of Brian Andrews and Jeffrey Wilson have their Tier One series
* Marc Cameron has his Arliss Cutter series
Each of the people mentioned took over writing Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan books as lead author(s) for a period of time.
Highly recommend you consider turning him onto the author, Ward Larsen, especially his “David Slaton” or “Jammer Davis” series
