So, I’m 30M, and this is the first year I’ve hit 12 books for the year! I’m really exploring different genres and trying to find I what I like, but it’s overwhelming! My goal is 26 next year and I have a lot on my TBR, but interested in more.
Here’s some books from this year and how I feel about them:
5/5 Outline by Rachel Cusk
– Transit and Kudos are up next!
5/5 Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler
– Talents also up soon… I am reading a good bit of series rn hahaha
Still reading but 4.5/5 maybe 5/5 The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin
– In the last 50 pages right now and absolutely going to read the trilogy!!!
4/5 This Thing Between Us by Gus Moreno
3.5/5 Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer
– Didn’t like Authority. Didn’t read the last one.
4.5/5 The Secret History by Donna Tart
3/5 The Spy Who Came In From The Cold by John Le Carré
– Would be interested in exploring different spy type books, though!!
4.25/5 The Employees by Olga Ravn
– Didn’t know what was happening but loved every second.
DNF’d, but will pick up again — The Radium Girls by Kate Moore
– I do want to try more non-fiction but this just didn’t hook me in the first 100ish pages. I was in a bit of a slump so I should try again…
And here’s what I bought recently that I plan on reading:
– In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
– Ghost Wall by Sarah Moss
– Sex and Rage by Eve Babitz
– The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
– The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro
– The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin
– Sula by Toni Morrison
I am truly open to anything to keep expanding my interests! I want to explore the best of a lot of genres… sci-fi, fantasy, classics, romance, etc etc… I have also NOT read a lot of what people would call “required” reading so open to like the absolute MUST read books.
