Please suggest books that speak to the nature of people and relationships through character analysis

So I’ve just started Machiavelli and it’s great but not quite what I was expecting. I’d love a book that really breaks down the psyche of the characters and relationships within a story ideally representing common archetypes/stereotypes that we find in society
