I spent a very long time trying to figure out what books or resources had authoritative guides on managing fitness, nutrition, diet, injury prevention, proper form.

If you look stuff up online, you’ll get commercial language, you’ll get fad workouts, you’ll get “Lose 60 lbs in 2 weeks with this one simple trick!” Give me a break.

I thought to myself, well what is the knowledge that a coach has that a YouTube influencer isn’t giving me? What is the missing link?

I wanted to make this post as a reference for others. (These resources may or may not already be in the sidebar.)

    Fitness and Working Out:
    – Becoming a Supple Leopard 2nd Ed.
    – Ready to Run (same author)
    – Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training 3rd Ed.

    Nutrition, Health, (and First Aid):
    – Mayo Clinic Diet Book
    – Mayo Clinic Family Health Book
    – Mayo Clinic A-Z Health Guide

    Programs:
    – Tactical Barbell
    – Hal Higdon Running Books

Note: Becoming a Supple Leopard and the Mayo Clinic Family Health book are practically textbooks.

Everything here has that base knowledge that everybody needs to know, the knowledge that should have been taught in school but we know nobody paid attention to, the knowledge that we’re expected to pay a coach for or to dive through the Safari that is the internet and filter the bullshit.

This should make it easier, I’m missing resources on Calisthenics, Rucking, and anything else I would have missed.

Let me know if there’s anything else that can be added to pad this out and make it more complete.
