For Someone Who Doesn’t Read A Lot?

So I just finished reading The Dyatlov Pass and it was good. But I want something different, like one of the books your high school would make you read.

For example, I had to read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime and it surprisingly gripped me all the way through, and I had almost never read a required school book before that. Another one I read in middle school was Touching Spirit Bear which also gripped me enough to read it all. Something that gives different perspectives, teaches some lessons, and a good story nonetheless. I don’t want suggestions like Catcher and the Rye or the really classic school books. It doesn’t have to be a true story.
