Has anyone read this wonderful book? It's absolutely brilliant yet I haven't seen anyone else talk about it.
It's surrealism, yet simultaneously grounded in reality, about 5 estranged cousins and their lives. From the blurb, it doesn't seem interesting, yet when you dive into the book it's amazing. It's emotional, gripping, depressing, inspiring- this book is everything to me!
It deals with an overarching theme of white supremacy in modern times, from the lense of the cousins who ultimately benefit from it, although their lives don't directly show it. (Although that wasn't the most apparent theme in my opinion, it more so dealt with the connections between the cousins) I've never read this book before, and it's taught me a lot as a black reader! I really connected with all of the characters as well. I don't want to write any spoilers, but if you have read this, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
