I've been in the mood for novels with historical settings. One of my favorite authors is Barry Unsworth and I loved Morality Play quite a bit. Please don't recommend Sacred Hunger by Barry Unsworth as I am currently reading it.
I'd also be up for fantasy with historical setting inspirations like A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, however, I don't want YA or heavy romance. I don't mind romance being involved but I don't want it to be the whole novel.

Pure historical fiction: Robert Harris
Historical fiction “with a quarter-turn toward fantasy”: Guy Gavriel Kay
Check the saxon chronicle books by Bernard Cromwell. They get repetitive later, the first 4-5 books are the best.
Ken Follett, either the Kingsbridge series or the Century Trilogy.
