I read a lot and my husband would like to co read something with me so he can share in my hobby. I am looking for book recommendations. Nothing overly long or complicated. I think fantasy or sci-fy area? Shows he has watched and enjoyed include fallout, arcane, Chernobyl and the three body problem if that helps get a better idea of his taste. He's a male in his mid 40s I'd that helps at all!

murderbot by martha wells.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir gets recommended a lot for good reason, very gripping while also being relatively easy to read. He could also try the three body problem novels since it often can help if you already have something to visualize while you read!
Old Man’s War series by John Scalzi. I feel pretty confident in this.
In this genre we both read and liked:
* Red Rising: Sci-Fi, space craft battles, but also great heroes, characters, stories. Darrow, a Red of Mars, infiltrates the ruling, godlike Golds. Series of six books.
* The Tainted Cup: myster / sci-fi. Din is an engraver, a man who can recall and report everything in exquisite detail. When a tree spontaneously erupts from an elite officers body, he is staffed to the investigation. It took about 8-10 pages for this to really click, but once it did, didn’t put it down. Can’t wait for sequel.
* The Thursday Murder Club: Mystery. 4 octagenarians try to solve cold cases, until one day, a very real murder happens on their doorstep. This is just a wonderfully entertaining series, literally a laugh and a cry, with great characters. 4 books.
