I just finished the book and I think there are some interesting themes on how aging is actually a gift, forgiving yourself, choosing your own life, etc. But I just do not understand the ending. Like, she and Naomi just kill that dude in the parking lot and Naomi gets shot (but lives). Why did they kill that dude? I thought Sloane was gonna find a way to maintain her own values while embracing the realities of being a vampire, but I don’t think murdering the first person they come across after making that decision really sells it. The guy was an asshole but he didn’t deserve to die. Were we supposed to think he did? That it was like a “hell yeah girl power” thing that they killed him?
