Even among Gen Zs, the habit of reading has been mostly on a decline. I mean, we have so many other ways to experience a story too through movies, shows, games, etc.
But for Gen Alpha (2010 – 25), it's about to get even worse. Tiktok, Reels, etc. have reduced the attention span of kids to the size of a peanut. It's getting hard for them to even watch a long movie. Plus, tech is getting cooler and they would have things like VR (and who knows what else in the future) to keep them entertained.
What does that look like for the future of Books? Will the new generation still find them meaningful?

It’s a dying hobby, unfortunately, fallen victim to much easy to digest short form content that has completely obliterated our attention spans. I don’t want to blame the newer generations since they were born into a born in which the deck is stacked so extensively against reading for pleasure.
I think they will still be interested in books. Malls are making a comeback thanks to Gen Z and we thought technology had completely outmoded that style of shopping, so I think books and libraries could easily experience a resurgence with future generations.
Books are like jazz music, there was a time it was the most popular kind of music.
