I"m looking for serious adult (not YA) horror/thriller/adventure novels written within the past few decades (1980 or later) featuring characters plunging into the ruins of Ancient Egypt and either accidentally or on purpose encountering supernatural forces and monsters (mummies, Egyptian gods, Eldritch horrors, etc.)
The Mummy (1999) is the quintessential example of this kind of story, but a lot of other versions of this kind of story exist. The original Indiana Jones movie story spends a lot of time in Ancient Egyptian ruins, for example. A lot of Cosmic Horror games and stories have been set within an Ancient Egyptian archaeological context. Even the MCU's recent Moon Knight tv series is something of an example of what I'm looking for.
+The Ancient Egyptian ruins setting is a must (though I'm not adverse to ALSO receiving recs for stories taking place in other contexts as well.)
+The archaeological adventure/horror aspect is a must.
+The supernatural horror aspect (ancient undead Mummies, monsters, gods, eldritch horrors, etc., whatever) is also a must.
The Edwardian period setting and Romance are not essential.
