I'm a reader and my mom (59) has mentioned a few times that she wants to get into reading too, but she feels overwhelmed by the options when she walks into a bookstore.
She told me she might like to try something in the mystery genre, and I'm struggling to find a good one to hook her since this isn't my preferred genre. I think ideally something no more than 350 pages (ish) might be a good start so she doesn't get intimidated before building her "reading muscles." TIA!

And Then There Were None or The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie
Sherlock Holmes and the Three Winter Terrors by James Lovegrove
What about “Everybody in my Family has Killed Someone” by Benjamin Stevenson. It’s a mystery. It’s fairly modern and it’s a fairly easy read while also being good. It’s a bit over 350 but not by very much.
If not, pick a Christie.
Maybe The Her Majesty The Queen Investigates series by S.J. Bennett. In these books the kate Queen Elisabeth solves crime. In my opinion they have a certIn miss Marple vibe.
Hi!
“Bones & All” (a girl with mysterious past) by Camille DeAngelis
Ruth Ware – Death of Mrs. Westaway. Page-turner, a bit gothic, an easy-read but so well written.

KILLERS OF A CERTAIN AGE
Not a mystery but The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is one of my all time favorites!
