I used to be an avid reader and then life happened. I want to get off screens and get back into reading but I don’t know where to start. I also don’t really know what I’m looking for. My most recent reading expeditions were into health related topics. I am still very much interested in that but I want to read for leisure. Reading about health topics is more for learning, IMO. I have not read for leisure in a very long time. I don’t like sappy love stories. I need something that is easy to read but also gets your attention fairly quick. I have a hard time maintaining interest in things (thanks ADHD) so if something is slow to pick up it’s not for me. I appreciate any suggestions on where to get started.

Honestly, try upper middle grade novels. They’re very quick to get into the action, easy to read in a single afternoon, and almost never contain romance.
Or Chuck Palahniuk. His books are fast, snappy, and generally if there’s romance it’s toxic and not the point.
{{A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers}} is short and sweet.
Me personally, how I keep consistently reading is having different phases of reading.
I read comics, webtoons, manhwa, light novels, manga, hentai, and actual books. (Fiction/Non-fiction)
What I’ve found to really like is reading on Kindle and get free books from Libby and other… sources.
This year I will be at 125 book read. And that’s through this method.
Also, another tip to help you with your ADHD is find books that are unique, meaning something that you haven’t read before or to that scale.
