Not a genre but howls moving castle got me out of my slump. Very light hearted and slightly varied from the movie so you get some surprises along the way. Definitely in my top 10

For me usually a fast paced thriller or mystery.

Thrillers. They tend to be easy, fast paced reads.

My go-to for slump-busting are short-story collections. They’re easy to read in bitesize chunks, but still allow me to feel like I’m making progress with each story read. Before long I find myself eager to read the next, and .. back in a reading frame of mind generally.
Alternatively, I pick something which is outside of my “usual genres” – a change being as good as a rest and all that.
All that said, and not knowing what you usually read, for you I’ll suggest *Fragile Things* by Neil Gaiman, which is one of his short story collections and a great book with it.

Mystery, thriller or a good romcom

Try a graphic novel or a manga volume. They’re quick reads and usually have an interesting story. Most importantly I think just switch genres from what you typically read or read most recently.

Poetry. I feel it makes me get back into reading because they’re usually quick to digest and get into. I then tend to try and find books with similar themes!
