I LOVE books about female characters pretending to be someone they are not. Think "yellowface" by R.F. Kuang where a lady passes off her dead friend's book at her own. Others I like are "The Girlfriend" by Michelle Frances where a poor girl pretends to be rich to bag a millionaire boyfriend. Anything tense & "will they get caught" esque.

**Mask of Mirrors** by M. A. Carrick. The main character is a con artist pretending to be a noblewoman
*None of this is True* by Lisa Jewell to some extent, though the character isn’t trying to be another character per se.
