I am looking for non-fiction books about searches for missing persons, serial criminals, infiltration and espionage, or cults, conspiracies, etc. I don't want the author to be outside of it looking in. I want to read from the point of view of someone who was IN IT…the detectives, the soldiers, the spies, the criminals themselves, people who were in cults but got out…you get the point. My particular interests lie in unsolved mysteries, WW2 and more recent wars/battles, religious cults, occult, psychology, true crime.
Non-fiction is so hit or miss for me. I'm trying to expand my reading. Memoirs would be fine if it mostly focuses on these sorts of things in that person's life. If it matters, I generally reach for horror…might give you an idea of the type of reading I'm coming from.
TIA
