I am open and interested in every any any theme/subject. It could be science, architecture, history, biographies, etc. if you could recommend a book that is good for beginners on the subject then others that are more advanced that would be even better, but not necessary. Advanced or beginner book, all are welcome.

From my 2024 reads, no prior knowledge necessary:

      * Oral history of D-Day by Garrett M Graff, as well as the oral history of 9/11 by the same author
      * Upstairs at the White House – My life with the first Ladies by J.B. West (who was (chief) usher for decades starting with Roosevelt)
      * The cat’s Meow about evolution and behaviour in house cats, study based
      * Nature’s nether regions by Menno Schilthuizen, about the evolution of sexual organs and behaviour in insects and spiders
      * Darwin comes to town by the same author, about plants and animals adapting to life in cities and the evolution of new city bound species

    2. A Walk in the Woods – hiking and humor

I’ve enjoyed every Walter issacson book I’ve read (biography) – especially his Ben Franklin book and the book on doudna’s mRNA Covid vaccine.

The science of liberty – how scientific revolution led to American revolution

Animal, vegetable, miracle – eating locally grown food for a year

America’s women – founding mothers instead of fathers (American history)

I could post and post. Well written non-fiction is my favorite way to spend my reading time.

My current #1 is – The Gene: An Intimate History by Siddharth Mukherjee.

    4. Hiding the Elephant by Jim Steinmeyer. It’s about the history of magic tricks and magicians

    5. Matt Parker’s books are all entertaining. Perhaps I’d recommend Humble Pi first. Maths mistakes in real life.

Loved The Spy and The Traitor. It’s about a double agent during the cold war and even though you knew he survived (there were photos of him in old age in the middle of the book) there were moments I was on the edge of my seat convinced there was no way he would make it.
