fantasy books that feel like bloodborne or elden ring (or any that reminds you of soulslike games)
While I'm expecting a mix of horror and fantasy, any genre works actually. Preferably standalone but if the books of the series are that good, suggest away.
Perdido Street Station by China Mieville. Once the nature of the horror reveals itself about a quarter of the way into the book, I think it has the same oppressive atmosphere as Bloodborne.
The fantasy world in Stephen King’s Fairy Tale bears a lot of resemblances to the Lands Between as well. I believe that book came out the same year as Elden Ring too, which made the similarities stand out even more for me. Book, in King fashion, fumbles the ending but overall it’s an enjoyable read about a boy trying to save his dog.
Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman is always a popular suggestion for topics like this as well, and for good reason.
