Hello,
I am looking for good books to read. I'm not easy when it comes to business. To tell the truth, my favorite book of 2024 was Frieda McFadden's The Housemaid. After that, I devoured all her books. I'm looking for thrillers similar to this story and her writing. Being French, I'm also a big fan of all “Joël Dicker” novels.
I've read all the Harlan Cobens, Linwood Barclays and Dan Browns. I like them a lot.
Nevertheless, “The Housemaid” really has something extra and all the right ingredients for a good plot:
– We're straight into the story. No need to wait 20 chapters.
– It's a story that happens to “ordinary people” (in the sense that the hero isn't a policeman, someone from the underworld).
– There are twists and turns.
– Short chapters.
– Narrative tension.
I literally devoured these books. I'm on the lookout for similar works. I'm currently reading “The Other Mrs Parrish”, which is also very good. I'm not necessarily looking for a hero who's a policeman or in the business, I like the fact that it happens to “Mr. Everyman”, you can project yourself more easily, and it makes the work less complex. I need to get into the story quickly, and there's no length or dead time.
What would you recommend?
I'm also a big fan of romance, but I'm having more and more trouble with these stories. Why is that? Because the stories all look the same, generally take a long time to get going, and lack that little extra something. But I'm fond of them, so if you have any, I'll take them too.
Thank you very much.
