Usually read thrillers and psychological thrillers/horror with lots of twists but I need a break and want something not so heavy. I’m looking for a book that’s a combo of or similar to two recent books I read: Part of Your World Series by Abby Jimenez and Remarkably Bright Creatures. Here’s what I liked and didn’t like for guidance on your suggestions:
- POYW was super cute and the characters were easy to connect with and root for. Humor was good too
- both books had great character development and easy to get lost in
- both books had lots of family relationships and real life dilemmas
-
RBC had great intellectual and perspective shifts that got you thinking
-
POYW was too sex focused for me. If you suggest a romance, please be very low spice rating
-
RBC was a little depressing and I’d like something a little more upbeat
I’m kind of leaning more toward like a beach read but one that’s not too “easy” (can’t think of a better word) and not too much sex. Thank you in advance!

I’ve heard good things about Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson that make it sound like it could be a good fit, and Vera Wongs Unsolicited Advice for Murderers is a cute cozy mystery that had some good characters
