North Woods by Daniel Mason. I just finished it today and it’s life changing. I teared up at the end, but more tears of peace than sadness (not cause the book was over… I wish it kept going!)

The picture book Big Cat, Little Cat by Elisha Cooper. Try reading it out loud to someone. I’ve never been able to make it through.

White Oleander by Janet Fitch has one chapter that will definitely make you cry.
Feast of the Goat by Mario Vargas Llosa has some rough scenes and commentary.

**”A Man Called Ove” by Fredrik Backman** – A grumpy old man’s life is transformed by unexpected friendships.
I have suggested this book in my newsletter [here](https://hi.switchy.io/SX0z) and its ranked very highly.

A Child Called It. I found it on a free book cart one day, and I cried like a baby.

Babel, or the Necessity of Violence by R. F. Kuang made me cry like a baby at the end. Perhaps it’s partly due to my personal experience of things that happened to student protesters in my country.
The book itself is not without flaws. It could use more subtlety and nuance when exploring its themes through the character arcs. But it still managed to make me cry.
