So I got recommended Detransition Baby so many times. I finally sat down to read it and after the first 30 pages I hated it. I skimmed through and read random pages after that until the end to see if it gets better and I genuinely don't understand the hype. The dialogue is really cringy, the characters are flat or outright caricatures, the sex-obsessed trans people angle or some trans ppl are really just sissies or agp all being in it completely killed it for me. I don't relate at all. And I love books with messy, mean, gross, asshole characters but I just found these ones to be so poorly written.
So, I still want something trans oriented though to feel seen (Im a trans woman). Im looking for a fiction book that has a trans character that maybe I could relate to or like better. Anyone have any recs for good trans related books but different from Detransition Baby?
