Hi, looking for some interesting book on everyday life in Chicago, not a social study.
Maybe fiction story of everyday hardlife in ghettos or poor neighborhoods, never was in U.S. and never read a book on such topic and very courious.
I'm big fan of Bulls and have almost every book on topic and many autobiographies of NBA players.
Was thinking to try if there fe exist a book about someone from very poor family raised into a rich or famous personality, be it businessman, sportsman, gangster, musician or artist
Thanks to everyone for suggestions!

Boss: Richard J. Daley of Chicago is about the former mayor of Chicago. I read it for an Urban Sociology class and it opened my eyes to the fact that corruption in the American political system is real and the concept of democracy is fragile. It also had some really good descriptive details about the city and what makes Chicago a fun and unique city.
*Gateway to Empire* by Allan Eckert – settlement of the Chicago portage (“The Gateway”) towards the War of 1812.
