Looking for something along the lines of The Murderbot Diaries, maybe a bit harder around the edges with 10-20 percent more snark and less touchy-feely, if that's at all possible in modern fiction. Any genre will do, except fantasy of any kind (unless it, like, really, really fits the description). Thank you.

This is kind of Terry Pratchett’s whole thing.
You might also like Tough Guide to Fantasyland and Dark Lord of Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones. Awesome dark satire.
Check out the John Dies at the End series by Jason Pargin.
Very snarky. Kinda weird
You – Klepnes. The first book is dark and funny.
