We’ve all read books that linger in our minds long after we’ve closed them. Some leave us feeling uplifted, but others cut deep and change the way we see the world. What’s a book that hit you like an emotional freight train, and how did it affect you?
For me, it was ‘A Little Life’ by Hanya Yanagihara. I had to physically put it down multiple times because it was so heavy, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s been months, and I still feel haunted by the characters. What about you?

No pun intended here but,”UnBroken” Non-Fiction by Laura Hildenbrand….What that hero went thru is simply beyond belief. No words to describe it here…
the kite runner by khalid hosseini. i was crying for days and had puffy eyes when i went to school 😭😭
As long as the lemon trees grow by Zoulfa Katouh
Marley and Me. Not to spoil anything, but we all know dogs rarely outlive their humans.
ABSOLUTELY LUVVVED KITE RUNNER!!
Paula by Isabel Allende. It was written as a telling of family history to her daughter while she was in a coma, along with the story of her daughter’s illness. Thats the part that broke me. As a mother myself, imagining her suffering was heartbreaking.
The Green Mile by Stephen King 😔
The entire book was depressing and books don’t usually make me sad.
I couldn’t finish A Thousand Splendid Suns…too sad & disturbing….He is a talented author though…WOW
Paula by Isabel Allende.
Ufff.
Never Let Me Go by Ishiguro. The entire book has a deep uncanniness to it. Reading this book is a slow & quiet vomit— spilling your guts one page at a time all over yourself. The realism is deeply upsetting.
Flowers for Algernon. I can’t even tell you why because I seem to have blocked it out. Seriously. I try to think of it and my mind skitters sideways.
I just finished The Road and feel pretty broken right now.
Night by Elie Wiesel is just so awful and brutal.
Old Yeller.
