I'm about to begin Anna Karenina. Want to take my time with this one – following the schedule on r/RSbookclub, which is set to take around 3 months. I'm a pretty voracious reader, and I know that some days I'll want to read more than just a 15-20pgs. So, I'm looking for a book to read that will compliment Anna Karenina, that I can hop back and forth to.

A lot of recommendations online talk about books with similar themes/atmospheres, such as Madame Bovary, but I think what I'm looking for is the opposite: something that is a counterbalance to AK's lengthy descriptive prose, philosophical themes, and intense character studies.

    Any recs?
