My kiddo needs to pick a Historical Fiction book for a project at school.
He is 11 years old, and is not a great reader. His comfort zone is graphic novels.
His teacher has indicated that Magic Tree House is too young for his grade but if I'm honest, that's about the level that he can tolerate reading without meltdowns. So I'm looking for something just a bit more mature, without being 200+ pages of writing.
Any ideas?

Number the Stars by Lois Lowry may be an option, Goodreads says it’s only 137 pages.
Consider *Tree in the Trail* by Holling C. Holling. I read it in the 7^(th) grade and enjoyed it immensely.
Adam of the Road?
{{The Sign of the Beaver by Elizabeth George Speare}}
there are the “i survive” graphic novels which are based on historical event, i think they’re worth a try
there’s always the “who was/is….?” or “what was/is…?” books but i think they might be a little boring
Old Yeller,
King of the Wind,
Johnny Tremain
Crusade in Jeans by Thea Beckman. I know I loved that story when I was about that age.
