I’ve been in a reading slump for a while now, and I’m a huge fan of science fiction but haven’t found anything new and interesting to read in a while. Maybe I’m just not looking in the right places, so I thought I’d post here.

Here are some that I’ve loved:
    – the Red Rising series
    – the Expanse series
    – the Illuminae Files
    – the Lunar Chronicles
    – Almost anything by Lois McMaster Bujold

    Here are some I’ve liked:
    – Mickey 7
    – Star Wars books
    – Old Man’s War
    – Defy the Stars series
    – The Diabolic and The Empress by SJ Kincaid

Books that I don’t seem to like:
    – Hard sci-fi that doesn’t have good characterization
    – Literary sci fi
    – Cozy sci fi w/ low stakes

Even though most of what’s up there is space opera, I don’t mind space horror, dystopia, near future, etc. as long as it’s got some action, suspense, and decent stakes.

      Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

Wool Trilogy (sci-fi, post apocalypse, dystopian)

Infinity Gate by M.R. Carey (currently two books about a war of parallel worlds)

Hyperion by Dan Simmons – very sci-fi. Kinda dense? But not really overwhelming.
