Hello, I have only recently been into books and have found several that really tickle my fancy, but I’m quickly running out of those at the moment. I was a habitual podcast listener until about a month ago, and have since switch exclusively to audiobooks/reading hard copies. Below is a list of several that I’ve listened to or read and how I felt about them… I figured it would be useful as a reference for taste.
Thank you all so much!
1) Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy series: I only have one of these left, Mostly Harmless, and am dreading the end of the series. This has by far been my favorably as of yet. The quick witted, silly, nonsensical writing of Adam’s has amused me endlessly. I absolutely love it.
2) 1984: I have read this book several times and it’s one of, if not my favorite. I love the dystopian grimness of this book and it is so well written.
3) Brave New World: Overall this title was solid. The beginning lot of the book was interesting enough to keep me wanting more, although it became a little troublesome to follow when several of the characters stories were entwined all at once.
4) The Road: The post apocalyptic atmosphere of this book and the love story of a father and son was stellar. It was an easy read and the lack of many characters was a huge plus to me. My ADHD starts to mix up some of the details after so many characters are involved.
5) 100 Year of Solitude: admittedly, I’ve only been through half of this one. To a point I made above, the amount of moving parts and characters in this one was overwhelming and I think I’ll have to pick it back up for another try again later.
6) Jonny got his Gun: this one was mind bending and gripping all the way through. I absolutely loved this book and the psychological aspect of it really painted a beautiful portrait.
7) Fahrenheit 451: like 1984, I loved this book. It was based around one person, easy to follow and enjoyable all the way through with its unique story.
Im just starting out here, and will absolutely look into any titles suggested here. This is why I love Reddit. Therefore, so long, and thanks for all the fish.

If you liked the road, Station 11 by Emily Mandel might be right up your alley.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is a blast to listen to, but it’s mainly humour and fun litRPG but might give you a similar feeling to Hitchiker (albeit it’s very hard to get to that level of wholesomeness).
Anihilation by Jeff Van der Meer is one of the weirdest fiction I’ve read and discovered last year, part of a serie and quick read / listen.
Never let me go by Kazuo Ishiguro (and most of his work) is outstanding literature and contemporary classics in the sci-fi / dystopian genre.
The Red Rising Serie is pretty good to listen to as well as it’s a full cast, it reads way more like YA (specifically the first book) than any other suggestions above though.
Frankenstein by Mary Shelly is my alltime favorite book when it comes to sci-fi, and knowing when it was written it’s just a blast to read through and it’s pretty short.
And in a complete other genre, The three musketeers or The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, these true classics are amazing and they’re LONG (over 1000 pages), if you would listen to them you would have hours to enjoy some great adventures in a genre that’s a bit different than post apocalyptic and dystopian I kept suggesting xD
