Kindness and power is a blend that is usually only achievable through an extensive initial period of suffering, so I don't mind at all if it's a slow burn i.e. character has to build their kindness and/or power. In fact, I'd prefer it.
Also, I don't care what kind of power at all – magical, physical, political, creative, social, everything is fine – but I need kindness there to temper it and I need it to be emotionally plausible. Not a Mary/Gary Sue type of situation. Ideally, it would be a story where the protagonist suffers for and because of their power and kindness. The three examples I can think of are The Goblin Emperor, The Will of the Many and the Obernewtyn series. All three of these do veer a little into wish fulfilment which is okay but not ideal. Even then, I still loved them! Please don't hesitate to recommend something even if you think it's not perfectly compatible with my prompt.
