Looking for apocalyptic books about infections; not the usual human infections, but horror infections that function like a kind of disgusting, biosphere-threatening fungus, from either a failed experiment, an alien meteor, or some other kind of origin point. Halo’s Flood and Minecraft’s Skulk are non-book examples of these.
Are there any books that deal with a scenario like this, on a local or global scale? *Moonseed* is an example, though it is more of a “grey goo” than an actual “infection”.
