I'm looking for quality solve-the-mystery/crime authors who pre-date modern technology.

What I like about Christie and Yokomizo is the remote/rural locations where the crimes takes place and the nature of the detective work – the detectives don't go all around testing blood samples, analysing DNA, checking camera feeds etc. because none of those techs exist. I like how the detectives just go around, talk to people amd think the cases out.

I didn't vibe with Arthur Conan Doyle .

    1. I just finished My Soul to Take by Yrsa Sigurdardottir that while set in a modern time, is in a remote part of Iceland. They use cameras once, and she googles a few things, but the bulk of her detective work is shoe leather.
