In Embassytown by China Mieville ambassadors are pairs of clones with cybernetic implants which allow some degree of telepathy. they are raised from birth to think of themselves as two parts of a greater whole, their images are kept identical and they constantly review each other's memories to maintain interchangeability.

I'm looking for similar books where two or more bodies are raised to understand themselves as belonging to a single whole, a single mind or identity or hive consciousness.

the narrative can be about someone escaping such a life, but I'd prefer if the text explores the experience on its own terms.
