Hi everybody. I'm looking for horror books with major themes of sadness as well (especially – though it doesn't have to be – grief). I've just finished A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness which is not strictly horror but it did have some prevalent horror/monster elements that I really enjoyed, as well as the underlying sadness in the whole plot. I've also read Lanny by Max Porter, which is also in that horror/monster/sadness blend and I liked it immensely. Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

A Winter Haunting by Dan Simmons, or, of course, The Terror. Good lord its sad. If you have seen the show, it was good, but really screwed up the later feel, and good lord did they F up the ending.
