Not sure how to describe what I’m looking for because it feels oddly specific. In general, I love alternate universe/ timeline stories with strong characters. I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen or been in the Meow Wolf exhibit where you are in a grocery store that looks familiar, but once you look closely, everything is slightly… off. The “other world” in Coraline knocked my socks off when I was younger. I love that subtle, sinking, eery feeling that earth-but-something’s-not-right setting has. Any recommendations on books like this?

*The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers* – takes place in 19th century *alternate* London infused with magic and Egyptian mythology.
*Dark Matter by Blake Crouch* – is more of a pure and modern sci-fi novel which takes place over multiple timelines throughout the multiverse.
*Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer* is also a great read.
enjoy!
