I am actually looking for books to put on a bookshelf of a scum bag in a comic. Just kinda like guys who feel superior and are kind of misogynist jerks. Books that sorta really value masculinity or could be read that way by people that think that way (think fight club)

I have murakami and McCarthy (I have beef w him).

    Any other suggestions?

    1. A copy of Lolita could make sense depending on what kind of scumbag. A guy who misreads it and recommends it and thinks it is a hiw to manual, etc. This is gettting dark fast.

    2. So like “red-flag” books, that if a woman walked into a guy’s apartment and saw them, she should run? Jack Kerouac, Richard Feynman, Nabokov, Ayn Rand. (I realize Rand is not male but I think it fits your criteria.)

Back when I was dating, David Foster Wallace was the red flag. I’m not sure if it was Wallace himself or just the type of guy who kept Infinite Jest openly displayed next to a shelf full of McCarthy, Kerouac, and Pynchon. This may not be true anymore but the vibe was “edgy main character syndrome” and was often just a symptom of untreated NPD lol.

    4. That 48 Laws of Power bullshit that every wannabe alpha male is reading these days would be a good one to put on there. I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell is another one, and I’m pretty sure that douchebag has more than one book published. The POS even has a whole chapter detailing how he once recorded himself having sex with a woman and didn’t let her know.
